Waste not, just pack!

A few days ago I saw something that left me awestruck! It was on the matter of food packing!'

Normally, if you hear people tell you to pack food at a public events, how would you feel? Great? Or yeik, not for me? Of course, if the food packing is to deprive others of their rightful portion, then it should not be encouraged. In fact, the persons doing such thing should be counselled.

But, I saw this lady pack the leftovers. Initially, like most people, felt a bit akward but later realize she is setting a very good example of person who gleans every bit of food (or resources) to ensure no wastages. It is definitely great to see people packing the leftovers to ensure no wastages!

Bear in mind that these leftovers are not necessarily bad or rotten food but the extra portions due to either over preparation or lower number of participants (inaccurate projections; aha, somebody did not do a good job..:P) in an event. Most of the time, the leftovers end up in the trash bin. In some cases, the quantity is huge. In other cases, the food thrown away are considered 'luxurious' even to the middle-income earners.  Why the waste? With the amount of wastages, it can be used to feed several needy families.

So, if you pack the leftovers, it should be encouraged so that there would not be any wastages. Of course, minus the inedible stuff.... like bones, fruit skins, etc....Pack the edible ones and leave the inedible...Pass them to your family members, relatives, friends, boss, subordinate, customers, the needy ones, etc.

So, the next time, when you are attending trainings, seminars or conferences, remember to get ready your food container.

WASTE NOT, JUST PACK!

Psst: We should have a campaign to "Waste not, Just pack!"
